1. Ciao Dope D.O.D., cominciamo con le presentazioni per quelli che ancora non vi conoscono.

Hi Dope D.O.D, let's begin with your presentation, for the people who may not know you yet.

Ciao, noi siamo i Dope D.O.D, un gruppo hardcore hip hop composto da 3 MC's (Jayreaper, Skits Vicious e Dopey Rotten), da un DJ (Dr. Diggles) e da un produttore (Peter Songolo). 

Whassup, we're Dope D.o.D. a hardcore hiphop group consisting of 3 MC's (Jayreaper, Skits Vicious and Dopey Rotten) a DJ (Dr. Diggles) and producer (Peter Songolo).

2. Nel corso del 2012 avete ricevuto numerosissimi riconoscimenti e avete partecipato a festival e concerti registrando sempre sold out, avete iniziato una collaborazione con la label Duck Down Records e avete ristampato il vostro album Branded. Vi aspettavate un così grande successo?

2012 is almost gone. You received lots of awards, your concerts were constantly sold out, you started a collaboration with the label Duck Down Records and your album Branded had to be reissued. Did you expect such a big success?

Si e no. E' figo come sembra, eravamo a conoscenza del fatto che sarebbe stata una cosa in grande, ma non sapevamo come l'avremmo fatto e quando sarebbe iniziato. Ciò non significa che abbiamo già raggiunto il traguardo, c'è ancora molto da conquistare su questo pianeta. 

Yes and No. As cocky as it sounds, we did know that we would make it big but we just didnt know how we would do it and when it would start. But that doesnt mean we're done, theres still allot more to conquer on this planet!

3. A proposito di Branded, parlateci di questo vostro album e della sua recente ristampa.

Talking about Branded, tell us something about this album (how it was born, themes and feelings) and its recent reissue.

Siamo arrivati insieme alla decisione di produrre un nostro primo album che avrebbe fatto conoscere il nostro nome al mondo. I temi sono arrivati in modo molto naturale, “rappiamo” di ciò affrontiamo quotidianamente e a questo aggiungiamo un tocco oscuro e di realtà. Non è come se creassimo qualcosa, è solamente ciò che siamo.

We came together with the decision to make a first album that would put our name on the planet. The themes came naturally as we always rap about shit we wittnes daily mixed with the dark and realmy touch we add to it. Its not like we "made this" its just who we are.

4. Come è nata la vostra collaborazione con la Duck Down Records, una delle più rinnomate etichette hip hop statunitensi?

The Duck Down Records is one of the most renowned labels in the States. How was your collaboration born?

Tutto è cominciato con la nostra collaborazione con Sean Price per Psychosis, che è nel nostro album Branded. Questo probabilmente ha acceso l'interesse della Duck Down per noi. Sicuramente è un grande onore per noi essere parte di una così leggendaria formazione e naturalmente abbiamo detto sì!

It all started with our collaboration with Sean Price for Psychosis, which is on our Branded album. That probably sparked Duck Down's interest in us. Of coarse its a more than an honour to join such a legendary hiphop formation, so naturally we said, YES!

5. A parte il fenomeno Dope D.O.D., non si sente molto parlare del panorama hip hop olandese. Raccontateci qualcosa voi.

The phenomenon Dope D.O.D aside, it's difficult to hear or even find Dutch hip hop artists or music. Could you give us a picture of how is the Dutch hip hop scene?

E' molto olandese. La scena sta crescendo, ma noi non ci consideriamo parte di essa dal momento che buona parte dei rappers olandesi rappa in olandese. Ci sono senza dubbio artisti di talento nella scena hip hop olandese.

Its very dutch. The scene is growing bigger but we dont necessarily consider our selves to be part of the dutch scene since most dutch rappers only spit in dutch. But we definitly got some talented artists in the dutch scene.

6. Le vostre produzioni sono un efficace fusione di diverse sonorità. Quali sono gli artisti da cui traete ispirazione?

Your productions are an effective fusion of different sounds. Do you have sources of inspiration?

Siamo ispirati da molti generi musicali differenti come il grime e la dubstep ma il nostro genere principale è l'hip hop. Ci piace mixare suoni elettronici nei nostri beats.

We've been inspired by allot of different music genres like, Grime and dubstep but our style is Hiphop first. We like to mix in touches of electronic sounds into our beats.

7. Nel corso dei vostri tour mondiali vi siete esibiti diverse volte in Italia. Siete riusciti a farvi un idea dell'hip hop italiano?

While you were touring you performed serveral times in Italy. How do you see the italian scene, and what kind of idea did the italian audience give to you?

Prima di tutto il pubblico italiano è uno dei pubblici più pazzi che abbiamo mai incontrato. Abbiamo fatto un paio di show a Milano gremiti di persone e folli. Amiamo l'Italia. Abbiamo anche lavorato con Maztek, un produttore italiano. Ha prodotto il beat per Brutality sul nostro Evil EP e altri che stanno per uscire.

Fisrt of all, the italian crowd is definitly one of the craziest crwods we've ever witnessed. We had a couple of shows in Milano that were packed and crazy. We love Italy. We also work with Maztek, an italian producer. He produced the beat for Brutality on our Evil EP and theres more coming.....

8. Che progetti e aspettative avete per il 2013?

Could you tell us something about your projects and expectations for 2013?

Come ho appena detto siamo impegnati con un nuovo album e dei nuovi video che usciranno l'anno prossimo.

Ci saranno un paio di produzioni di Maztek e delle collaborazioni importanti in arrivo, ma questo è tutto ciò che posso dirvi!

Like i just mentioned, we're busy with a new album and videos that will be released next year. Maztek's got a couple of productions on it, and we got some great collabs coming up but thats all i'll say!
