L’era di Jay- Z come co-proprietario dei Brooklyn Nets potrebbe essere giunta al termine: secondo fonti a lui vicine il rapper vuole abbandonare questa attività per intraprendere una nuova sfida, divenire un agente.

Lui è sicuramente innamorato di questa franchigia, visto che è merito suo se è tornata nel celebre quartiere di New York, ma per essere un agente nell’NBA non puoi essere in possesso di azioni di nessun team e per tale motivo è costretto a cambiare “mestiere”.

Nel frattempo Jay-Z ha dato vita ad un’agenzia di management, la Roc Nation Sports, e il primo a firmare è stato una delle tante star della MLB, la seconda base dei New York Yankees, Robinson Cano.

Partendo dal baseball, dunque, Mr HOV vuole divenire agente anche nell’NBA e vista la forte influenza che un cantante di successo come lui può avere, i suoi “colleghi” sono già allarmati per la possibile perdita di molti loro campioni.

E' ufficiale: Jay-Z vende la sua quota azionaria dei Brooklyn Nets per intraprendere il nuovo business della Roc Nation Sports.

A darne la conferma è lo stesso rapper newyorkese con una lettera riguardante il suo addio dalla proprietà della team NBA, in cui ha affermato che "far parte dell'organizzazione dei Nets ha superato le mie più grandi ambizioni. Non l'ho mai fatto per puro investimento, ma perché erano i Nets e perché era Brooklyn...È stata una decisione difficile ma come ho detto prima, non tanto per una questione di business. io sarò sempre un Brooklyn Nets".

Ecco la lettera completa:

"Being a member of the Nets organization surpassed some of my greatest ambitions. It was never about an investment; it was about the NETS and Brooklyn. My job as an owner is over but as a fan it has just begun. I’m a Brooklyn Net forever. It’s been an honor to work with Mikhail Prokhorov, Dmitry Razumov, Christophe Charlier, ONEXIM Sports and Entertainment, Brett Yormark and all the wonderful people involved in making the Nets first class. My sincerest thanks goes to Bruce Ratner, who first introduced the idea of moving the Nets to Brooklyn. A thank you and deepest appreciation goes to the fans. You are the lifeblood of any team.

The Nets have made their mark on the NBA and as they enter a new era, Roc Nation does as well; as we embark on Roc Nation Sports. Our newest endeavor is committed to building the brands of professional athletes as we have done for some of today’s top music artists. For Roc Nation Sports to function at its full potential, NBA rules stipulate that I relinquish my ownership in the Brooklyn Nets. It was a tough decision but as I stated earlier, it’s not about ownership. Congratulations to The Nets on a great season and making the playoffs! I will always be a Brooklyn Net."

Non ci rimane che fare l'in bocca al lupo a Jay-Z per questa sua nuova sfida, che siamo sicuri lo porterà ad arricchirsi ancora di più.
