Kendrick Lamar è stato protagonista, durante la sua permanenza nella città di Manchester, di un'approfondita intervista con il magazine online The Coveteur. L'MC prodigio ha ricevuto varie domande su diversi temi, tra i quali il suo stile (si parla di musica), la cultura hip hop e gli accordi commerciali con la Rebook. Particolarmente interessanti sono però state le sue dichiarazioni su Lil Wayne, MC che non necessita di presentazioni ovviamente. 

"Yeah, man, we was heavy. That’s a real story like, we was just huge, still to this day, huge Lil Wayne fans. Lil Wayne is the greatest. Not only because of his music but also because of the culture he put behind it. It was a big part of what he was talking about, so we always hold Lil Wayne in high regards. Juvenile as well. And yeah, it’s the impact of them man. To be a part of it the same way he was a part of it years later is just a great feeling".

Lamar ha citato il presidente della Young Money proprio in risposta alla domanda postagli circa coloro che più hanno influenzato il suo stile. K Dot ha espressamente parlato di Wayne come uno dei più grandi musicalmente e per ciò che ha dato alla cultura hip hop. Altre parole di grande stima e rispetto sono state poi spese per Juvenle. Weezy ha ovviamente reagito bene ai complimenti dedicatigli dal moderno messia dell'hip hop e ha perciò twittato tutto il suo rispetto per Lamar.
